Balloon Sinuplasty: Now Standard of Care

Relieved Sinus Patient

Patients experience less pain than with traditional sinus surgery and return to normal activity more quickly.

Clinically-Proven Results

Studies have proven Balloon Sinus Dilation provides long-term relief from sinus symptoms by opening blocked sinus passageways for 94% of patients. This means that, on average, about 6 patients in 100 will need another procedure. The next procedure could either be another balloon sinus dilation or a traditional sinus surgery.

In 2013 a national multi-center study, known as REMODEL, demonstrated Balloon Sinus Dilation is as effective as conventional sinus surgery at improving chronic sinusitis symptoms long term, but with less down time, less post-operative pain and a faster return to normal activities.

Sinusitis: Inflammation, Swelling and Discomfort

Sinusitis is the inflammation and/or swelling of the sinus-lining tissue, with or without infection. Infection results in one of the following types of sinusitis: acute sinusitis, subacute sinusitis, chronic sinusitis, or recurrent sinusitis. When the sinus cavities swell, normal sinus function becomes impaired, which can lead to blockage of the airways.

PROPEL: The Latest in Sinus Care Technology

Treat Recurrent Sinusitis with the PROPEL Sinus Stent

When sinusitis persists, it’s known as chronic sinusitis, a condition that can prove resistant to different sinusitis treatments.  PROPEL sinus treatment is a new form of treatment that tackles this issue of recurrence more effectively.

The PROPEL sinus treatment seeks to address the issue of recurrence in patients after sinus surgeries and procedures.  After sinus treatment, the sinus lining can swell again during the healing process or form scars or polyps which will block the channels, leading to a relapse of infection.

PROPEL is a dissolvable spring-like lattice structure that is inserted into the sinus channel after it has been widened to keep the channel open through the healing process.  It also dispenses steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine to the sinus tissue to keep the swelling down and keep the channels open.  This results in better outcomes of sinusitis treatments.
